how to identify abuse, and
how to respond.

A keynote address focused on the vulnerability of people with developmental disabilities to abuse, and discuss ways to help reduce such risk. A second presentation focused on how people with developmental disabilities become unwitting sex offenders because they have never been taught the "rules of sex."

Dr. Nora Baladerian presented a one day training on "Forensic Interviewing of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities" and a half day training on "Forensic Assessment of Consent to Sex." These trainings were sponsored by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, a state agency that governs training for all of the state's law enforcement personnel. The training was part of a sex-crimes investigation course offered by the Department of Criminal Justice Training, Kentucky State Police, and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs.
