I have been privileged to review
Dr. Nora Baladerian's "Risk Reduction Workbook for Parents and Service
Providers."
As a tool for those of us
as we do advocacy for people with disabilities, it is the best I have found.
It will be the "Bible" to go to. Long overdue in our field. Shirley Dove Parent Advocate Past President, The Arc of California Very well done! What great resources. The possibility of abuse is a fear that many families live with. Having some tools to reduce the risk as well as having a plan to follow if anything does happen, is empowering. And that is what A Risk Reduction Workbook provides - practical tools and empowerment. I highly recommend these resources. Chantal Sicile-Kira Founder AutismCollege.com
I expect the use of this Workbook will help
countless people with developmental disabilities be safer from would-be
perpetrators while developing healthier views of sex and their own
sexuality.

Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant. We don't want disasters
to happen, and we don't want violence to happen. Yet it does. Information is
POWER. This adds to the knowledge base of all of us. Roberta Sick, M.Ed., L.P.C. Director, Crime Victims with Disabilities Partners for Inclusive Communities University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Risk Reduction offers sage advice about what we can do as parents and professionals to reduce the risks associated with the sexual assault of our most vulnerable people. This is a manual that should be required reading for every parent, educator and disability professional that works with people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Paul Feuerstein Barrier Free Living This "Workbook" is a well
thought out, informative and impressive guide that not only looks to prepare
caregivers and others to reduce the risk of abuse to persons with
disabilities, but also to prepare caregivers and others to effectively
respond to abuse when it happens. |

Risk Reduction Workbook |
In addition to the workbook for parents and service providers, there is a book written specifically for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. This book will help them understand more about the risks of becoming a victim of abuse, how to reduce the risk, and what to do if it actually happens to them. |
